Questions about AI, change and working with me
About the role
What is an AI Business Translator?
An AI Business Translator, also called an AI Business Analyst, is the bridge between the people who run a business and the people who build or supply its AI. The role makes sure the right AI is applied to the right business problem, then leads the change management that gets people to adopt it. Read the full definition
How is an AI Business Translator different from an AI consultant or IT vendor?
A vendor starts with a tool or a build and measures success by delivery. An AI Business Translator starts with the business question and the people who do the work, and measures success by business results and staff adoption. The two work well together: the vendor builds, the translator makes sure it solves the right problem and gets used. Read the full definition
What is a fractional AI business analyst?
A senior specialist who joins your organisation on a fractional basis to lead AI change. The role finds where AI should be used, briefs your vendors or IT team, and leads the change management until agreed outcomes are met, without the commitment of a full-time hire. About the fractional role
Getting started with AI
How do Singapore SMEs move from using AI to building it into workflows?
Start with one business problem tied to a strategic goal, map the workflow behind it, and redesign that workflow with the people who run it. The tools matter less than the change management: a clear owner, a story the team believes, and two measures reviewed after 90 days. For SMEs
What does an AI opportunity diagnostic include?
Mine starts with your strategic goals, maps your key workflows with the people who run them, and listens to the staff who will live with the change. You receive an opportunity roadmap, with a one-page Opportunity Play for each priority opportunity. About the diagnostic
What should an AI opportunity brief include?
Six things: the strategic goal it serves, the moment in the workflow where the work happens, the simplest fix that would work, the people who gain and what they fear, the change story, and the proof: what will move, by how much and by when, with a high-level readiness check. My version is called the Opportunity Play. About the diagnostic
Which AI tool should we use?
That depends on the problem you are solving. I start with the business question, then help you judge tools against it. I don’t currently sell or earn commission on any AI tool. If that ever changes, I will tell you upfront. For SMEs
People and change
Why do staff resist AI, and how do you get adoption?
Resistance often comes from uncertainty: what the change means for my role, my skills and my standing. Adoption grows when people help shape the change, hear a clear story about why it is happening and what stays the same, and see early results from colleagues they trust. About change narrative projects
What is a change narrative?
A change narrative is the story an organisation tells about a change: why it is happening, what it means for each person, and what stays the same. For AI rollouts, I adapt it for staff, board, funders and customers, and build a Story World so each group can add its own voice. About change narrative projects
What is narrative marketing?
Narrative Marketing is the multi-disciplinary management of how the brand story unfolds to, and connects emotionally with, the audience to inspire desired actions. It is achieved through the co-creation of stories with customers, staff and publics within a designed Story World. Find out more
Social services
How can social service agencies use AI without losing the human touch?
By first deciding which parts of their work depend on a person, and which do not. AI then supports the work that does not, such as notes, reports and admin, and the time it frees goes back to people. Staff help draw that line. For social services
Is AI governance mandatory in Singapore?
As at September 2026, Singapore has no standalone AI law. IMDA’s Model AI Governance Frameworks are voluntary guidance, and existing laws such as the PDPA apply when AI handles personal data. Check the latest position with IMDA, as policy is evolving. For social services
